A lifetime shaped by flight

Piemags Aviation exists to celebrate the power, heritage and sheer excitement of flight. It was founded by aviation photographer and archivist Paul Fearn, who has spent his life around aircraft, both in the air and behind the lens.

Aviation shaped Paul's path from an early age. He joined the Air Training Corps at twelve and went on to serve in the Royal Air Force, where his connection to military aviation took root. After leaving the RAF to pursue photography full time, he began capturing aircraft on military bases, in museums and in operational environments around the world. That early work led to commissions for museums, heritage organisations, publishers and government departments.

Today that same eye for detail runs through everything Piemags produces, from a single fine-art print to a full editorial licence.

Over the past decade Piemags has grown far beyond contemporary photography. The archive now represents tens of millions of historic aviation images and films, spanning the early pioneers of flight, both World Wars, Cold War jets, classic airliners, modern fast jets and commercial aviation. Our mission is to preserve these collections and to make sure the contributors, collectors and museums behind them receive a fair share of royalties and recognition.
